so i want to have a laptop for my school work, I use word and powerpoint a lot, also i am interested in programming so i am learning C#, using visual studio and a bit of unity(i used it like once or twice because right now i want to learn actual language) so guys, do you have any laptop recommendation? (btw i live in uk) (also i am not going to list my budget because people will most probably give me laptops that are just around that price, i am just interested in a laptop that is going to get the job done and if unity needs a lot of power, thus increasing the cost, then scrap it)

Aim for an i7 over anything else for programing. A 10 series GPU is a bonus but expensive. I'd rather have a i7 with no dgpu over an i5 with say a 9X0m. Have a look at the Lenovo range. The Dell XPS is highly rated but I only have experience with ThinkPads. ThinkPads have a good reputation in that they last forever

chromebook. I'm looking at getting a touch screen model since they announced they will be able to run android apps. I'm still researching that though and I'm still researching how good the software updates are handled. i think id stick to intel models due to the crappy android support arm devices get

I'm lost too. all iv found so far is i want a touch screen to use android apps, 4GB RAM, and an intel processor. There use to be some really nice models with slim aluminium case but they dont appear to be in stock, except for a samsung model that does not have an Intel processor

The best Chromebook on the market now is the ASUS C302CA, with a Core M processor, 4 or 8 GB of RAM and a 1080p touchscreen. It also supports Android apps as well, which is great for tasks that can't be done in a browser. The only thing is that it is expensive (£600, https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-C302CA-GU010-Chromebook-12-5-Inch-Notebook/dp/B01MU9LS52), and for that price I would argue there are better options. The Dell Chromebook 13 is the best "traditional" Chromebook, but that cannot do Android.

I'd be tempted to recommend Windows ultrabooks personally, as you can do more things that don't require a browser. The ZenBook UX305 is a decent budget ultrabook option (only £10 more than the Chromebook), with a Core M processor (really decent for Office, but only good for casual gaming) https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Software/ASUS-Zenbook-UX305CA-Notebook-M3-6Y30-Processor-Windows/B01HIWOOEU/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1485342449&sr=1-1&keywords=ux305. I'd think a used business-grade laptop would be better though, as the build and performance will be better, although the ZenBook would be more portable.

It really depends - would you rather have portability or power?

I would rather have something cheaper for around £200, used or not, I don't care. But the most important is the ability to work in Word and PowerPoint

EDIT: just casual gaming, browsing and thats it

I would say then that your best bet would be to look for used business laptops. They do suck a little when it comes to battery life and aren't as portable, but the build quality and performance will be better than anything new around £200 (I've owned both a used business laptop and a £210 Chromebook, and the business laptop blows the Chromebook out of the water).

It really depends on the screen size, but for now, I'll recommend some 12.5" laptops (as they are the most portable) - for £200, you're really looking at the Dell Latitude E6240, HP EliteBook 820 G1, and the ThinkPad X240. These will all serve you very well for what you are looking for.
