Windows Start Button

Is there a way to change the Windows Start Button without the use of a program (IObit Start Menu 8). If so, how can i do it? The regular Windows start button just looks boring in my opinion, and i want to make my computer really mine.

Thanks for the idea of using Classic Shell. I'll give it a try if IObit Start Menu 8 doesn't work after the 30 day trial.

As a IObit customer, I would steer away from other of their products than ASC and Smart Defrag. They just seem too expensive for the benefits.
