Hey Guys,

This is my first custom loop - I've done some research and put together what I think would be a nice setup and was hoping for some assistance from the more experienced community to let me know if there are any glaring issues that a noob might miss.  I plan to put the entire PC together and double check dimensions and looks before ordering the liquid cooling components (just waiting on my case).

Thanks!

PC Setup

Case: Lian Li PC-08

MoBo: ASUS Rog MAximus IX Code

Graphics: EVGA 1070 FTW

CPU: i7-7700k

PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2L

RAM: Corsair Vengance 32GB 3200

M.2 SSD: Samsung 960 Pro 256GB

Liquid Cooling Components

Pump/Res: XSPC D5 Photon Reservoir/Pump Combo, 270mm (full height is 345 mm - case is 428mm so good there)

CPU block: EK Supremacy Evo

GPU block: EK-FC1070 GTX

Rad1: Alphacool NexXxos ST45 240mm (would like 280 but case only supports 240)

Rad2: Alphacool NexXxoS ST45 120mm

Fans: Corsair SP120 Static Pressure

Fittings: Bitspower G1/4" to 3/8" ID, 1/2" OD Compression Fitting

Tubing: PrimoFlex 3/8in ID 1/2in OD

Coolant: Mayhem Pastel White

The Loop

Pump > GPU > 120mm RAD > CPU > 240mm Rad > Res

Pull for the fan/rad setup

Some Notes

1. Not looking to overclock at the moment - but want to build so that it is a possibility in the future

2. The two rads for this setup are overkill but my hope is that I can run the fans lower for a quieter system with the extra 120mm Rad in the back of the case - if that reduction in noise is minimal then I can forgo the 120mm rad

3. The case has 53mm clearance for top Rad (according to the site) - with fan and the ST45 Rad this is too big however I think the clearance is only dealing with it completely clearing the MoBo - I will know for sure when the case arrives.  I can always do the NexXxos ST30 if needed (and if that would be fine for the setup).

4. I see lots of information about problems with Mayhem pastels out there but the best I can determine reading through threads is that:

a.) White doesn't loose it's color as easily as the darker colors.

b.) Should work fine with the Primochill Primoflex tubing

c.) As long as I do maintenance (clean and replace coolant and tubing) on this system every 6-12 months - preferably 6-8 - it should be fine

Additional Question

I would like to use a lot of 90 degree fittings for a cleaner look - maybe 10 or more?  From what I can tell most people say that this will affect performance, but it's not clear how big of a performance hit.  My idea is that I am buying a pump that is more than what I need and so can handle pumping through the bends - especially if I go to just the one 240mm Rad.

Thanks!

Don't know about loop but the PC itself is fine though why not a 1080? A 850w is also too much.

I keep asking myself the same thing about the 1080 - just not sure if it is worth the extra $250 with the current games I play or just better to buy something newer in a couple years when I feel like an upgrade.

Agreed on the 850 - but the price jumps were minimal and my mind will always float to the what if I need it in the future mindset.

Err why not 360mm radiator to front?

Since the case has two compartments I didn't want to have to worry about routing the liquid cooling to the second compartment and keep it all contained in the first compartment.  Good thought though.  Now if I did need the 360 for the setup I would do it but at this point I am still wondering if the extra 120mm is necessary or if I should just stick with the one 240.

Got it - just didn't know if adding another rad and fan can get significantly lower noise for lower fan speeds or not.  However since the case itself already has 5 fans I don' think it will matter so I am just going to go with the single 240.  Thanks.
