CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($329.99 @ SuperBiiz) will do better than the 7600k in games.
CPU Cooler: Deepcool CAPTAIN 360 273.4 CFM Fluid Dynamic Bearing Liquid CPU Cooler  ($98.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: MSI Z270 TOMAHAWK ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($139.99 @ B&H)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory  ($92.99 @ Newegg) the price of that ram is horrible, get this instead, double capacity and faster while being cheaper.
Storage: SK hynix SL308 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($67.99 @ SuperBiiz) $100 for a 120gb ssd is a scam, this will be better.
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($82.48 @ Amazon) do you seriously need this much storage? 2TB should be enough for you.
Video Card: PNY GeForce GTX 1070 8GB XLR8 Video Card  ($389.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Corsair Carbide 400C ATX Mid Tower Case  (Purchased For $0.00)
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA G3 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($99.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $1302.41
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

I'm a first time pc builder. But I have done extended amount of research. So my build https://pcpartpicker.com/user/g-dawg22884/saved/NKn23C seems okay but could use help. And yes I know the RAM is over priced, I like the way it looks. Part of the reason I got the case I did (I already have it) is so I can open it and touch the ram.  Also thinking about waiting for an AMD gpu with spec's like the 1070 because freesync is so much cheaper.

What will you use the PC for? Also budget/preferred color combination if any?

I know you said you want to be able to see and touch the ram, but $100 USD for 8gb? There has to be something that is aesthetically pleasing without being that expensive.
