I was just reading the Raspberry Pi thread and i hope to get some good ideas for future projects from it.

Shortly after I obtained a Raspberry I also bought an Arduino Uno R3 microcontroller (I bought the non-smd version incase I ever need to swap out the chip later).

What is Arduino?...

I've been playing with making LED patterns blink on a breadboard... spinning motors and servos, but nothing major.  It is mostly for fun of course, nothing practical yet.  I don't even have a soldering iron (yet).

To make it a little more interesting, I sometimes use my Raspberry to run the Arduino IDE.

I've a couple of small O'Reilly books ("Getting Started with Arduino" & "Getting Started with Raspberry Pi").  Those books are enjoyable to read in bed, but the same info can be found online pretty easily.

For projects, I'm following these Adafruit lessons... http://learn.adafruit.com/category/learn-arduino

How are you using the Arduino? What projects are you working on or have planned?  What supplies/parts were required?

Did you make your Arduino from a kit or did you buy it pre assembled as an Uno or Duo, etc?  Where do you get supplies for your projects?

Hi, I plan to use my arduino (either my boarduino [adafruit's breadboard ready duemilanove] or my uno r3 i got off a dude for cheap) to make a mp3 player that's more like a pc audio solution (like a nerfed sonar asus dg xonar) and as a pc controller of some kind. still n00b right now though... so it'll be a while.

How's the Pi? is it diy friendly or is it more of just a straight up mini computer?

I have an Arduino Uno, Raspberry Pi, and a UDOO Quad(4 Core ARM + Arduino DUE on one board)

I made lots of LED controllers with my Arduino and I also made a small machine that could map out a room using an ultrasonic sensor.

You can spend A LOT on the arduino, accessories are pretty expensive, especially the add on boards.

Didn't do too much with the Pi, it was a bit too slow for a mini media server.

I just got the Udoo a couple weeks ago, but I have been wayyy too busy to mess around with it.
