hoping for something in between... less that 500 is preferred. less than 400 is even better, and so on.

I haven't researched anything yet, but there is probably the made in china knockoff, and the real deal.

They have some really good smartwatches but not really sure if you can afford some of the better one , after all , they are branded watches .

To be honest, analog doesn't really come to mind when thinking of a smartwatch. If you really want it to do something useful, one that's on a more supported platform like Android Wear will be much more beneficial than one that's on a proprietary platform, even if you have to go with one that has a touchscreen. A lot of the time, if you just have a tiny screen that tells you a little bit of information that you can't read all of or can't do anything about, it's not really any easier than just taking your phone out of your pocket.

 

That being said, Fossil has some nice Android Wear smartwatches, reputable brand with nice designs.
