ECC Ram with mobo

Hi,

I salvaged an i7 2600 and a mobo from a lenovo prebuilt. I was wondering if ECC ram would be supported. I know the cpu doesn't support ECC memory, but I've read online that if the CPU doesn't support ECC and the bios does, the Ram will be treated and used as regular Ram. Is there any program that I can run to see if the mobo supports it? I looked through the bios, and it didn't say anything about Ram.

there is not need for ecc ram in most case just just use normal ddr3
