Mainstream linux distro reccomendation

Go to solution Solved by tikker,

My goto recommendation is usually Mint, but I've recently started using Fedora and it's nice as well. So I'd say try a different evironment for Mint (there are others) or give Fedora a try.

Hi guys

I'm having trouble picking a mainstream distro to run on rig 4 listed in my signature, currently running vanilla ubuntu. I really don't like unity, I'm leaning towards ubuntu mate, have tinkered with it before, it's a teeny bit minimalist for my liking, have also looked at mint cinnamon but not to keen on the appearance. Ideally what I'm looking for is something that looks decent, runs smoothly, and gets mainstream support (ie not tiny support base distros). Any advice would be greatly appreciated:)

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I think I'll try mint mate, they seem to have made mint look better than ubuntu's implementation. Going to do a clean wipe and install it. Thanks for the recommendations guys. Will try stick to it and not rage quit haha:)
