So,here's my configuration:
I have a GTX 1080 that outputs to 4 monitors, 3 1080P 60Hz IPS monitors, in Surround config, that uses the DVI and 2 DP to HDMI. It also drives a fourth monitor, which is a TN 1080P monitor that does 144Hz.
I also hooked up my 1080P TV to the PC, but due to connectivity issues Im using the integrated graphics on my i7-6700k.

My problem is:
When I connect the TV to the integrated graphics and turn it on, the 144Hz monitor goes to 60Hz mode, and as soon as I set it back up to 144Hz in nVidia control panel, it disconnects my TV.

is there a way to have both on at max refresh rate?

What's your motherboard? Maybe it doesn't support such a high refresh rate.

Here's to the crazy ones...

MSi Z170A Gaming Pro Carbon. But the 144Hz panel is connected to the GPU, not the motherboard (the reason why it is odd)

From my experience with my setup, which may be related...

When I turn off my secondary display (connected to the iGPU), Windows reconfigures its display stuff because now it has to work with the iGPU. When the display is turned off, it does the same thing. I'm guessing the graphics driver system resets or something when it detects a display is on or off to properly configure how to setup the desktops. However, this may also screw with your settings. i.e., when you have the TV on, the graphics system resets and loads up the configuration for just that setup. Then when you turn the TV off, it resets and loads up the configuration for the previous setup.

So I would check, when the TV is on, if the graphics driver is going back to 60Hz and see if you can set it to 144Hz.

tried that, as soon as I set it back to 144Hz, it disconnects my TV from the iGPU

couldn´t you just plug out the tv when you don´t use it? are you using the 144Hz panel at the same time as tv?

even plugged in it works, it just "disconnects" the display in windows settings.

and no I dont need the panel to be at 144Hz when Im using the TV, it's just to avoid having to switch configuration every time I need it

I feel like I can replicate this setup at home with some finagling. It won't be the same exact setup, but otherwise it'll be three 60Hz monitors and a 144Hz monitor, then a TV.

I'm leaning more on this being a Windows thing now, but we'll see.

Unfortunately I forgot that I'm short one cable for one of my displays. But I went ahead and loaded up a 144Hz panel, two 60Hz panels, and the TV. The TV and one of the 60Hz panels is 4K.

Still nothing happened like you described.

thanks a lot for the time and effort you provided, I'll keep swapping it everytime.

also, did you enable surround on the 2 60Hz panel? it might be a key element here

I didn't. I don't think I can because last time I tried it the configuration refused because apparently the monitors weren't the "same enough" model.
