Any tips please! I have a nighthawk x4s r7800 router and am getting nowhere near my provider speeds over wifi. I have 300 dl and 30 up which i get reliably on my pc through the router but my wifi is 25-30 dl and 10 up. I have tried changing channels and resetting the router. I have seen my 300 and 30 speeds on wifi in the past and oddly enough i get it for an hour or so when i do a factory reset.

Try turning off the 2.4GHz wifi and connecting to the 5GHz one . Does your WiFi card support 5GHz ? If you're using a desktop , maybe try upgrading to a PCe wireless card with antennas , those helps alot especially the one with 4 antennas . If you're using a laptop , the Wireless card built in may not be very good , same goes for integrated wireless card on your Mobo .

My desktop gets the speed just fine as it is hardlined into the router. Its just the wifi that has a massive drop off on both channels about an hour or 2 after a reset.

You might want to try updating the driver , people are having issues with nighthawk in the pass because of the drivers not being up to date , check out this article Nighthawk WiFi Routers Latency Issue
