Hello there so for the past week or so i have been having an intermittent issue where my pc would just shut off, it doesn't crash as such it is almost as if it just loses power, turns off then comes back on as if nothing has happened, no blue screen crash, no OC failure crash, just literally shuts off.

But the issue seems to have manifested it's self a lot more today, i was trying to play some Overwatch with a friend and it shut off 4 times in the space of around 10 minutes, one thing that is also getting me is that it only seems to happen while i am playing Overwatch.

I have tried stressing the full system using Aida64 which i would imagine puts way more load on the system than Overwatch does, but no crash/shut off :/

Honestly i am dumbfounded by the issue, i don't know where to start looking to either diagnose the problem or fix it?

When i have looked around the webs people have been saying it is usually a heat related issue and i have no heat related issues, CPU never goes above 60 Degrees, same with GPU and the air coming out of the back of the PSU is warm at times but definitely not what i would call "hot".

Could it be my extension lead that i use to take power from the sole socket on the wall

My system specs are as follows:

Intel 6800k @3.8ghz --- cooled by 280mm rad

Corsair vengance 2666Mhz

Asus X99 A II Mobo

EVGA Hybrid 980TI

Superflower leadex 750W 80+ Platinum PSU

If anyone could give me some insight as to what the issue may be that would be most appreciated :)

That could be the problem. Are you able to plug it in to another power source?

Not really as there is only 1 wall plug where my pc is, my only other way of testing this would be to plug my pc & monitor into the extenstion cable that takes power from the other side of the room and is used for my tv etc.

Have you checked the event viewer to see what(if anything) happens just before the shut offs/power off?

I have never really used event viewer but there is a critical event that reads:

Event ID: 41

Source: Kernel Power

Log: System

Not necessarily. Synthetic stress tests can be good for ruling out specific faults, but sometimes just using the PC normally (i.e. gaming) is the best test of all when it comes to long term stability. Try removing any/all overclocks on your system and see if it helps (and take the side off your case to be sure). Are you able to play other games without issue?

See that's my problem is it is really intermittent for as and when it does it but yeah it has only happened when playing overwatch.

If it seems specific to the game then it could be driver/setting related or a glitch in the game itself. That said... if you type 'Overwatch PC crash' into google you're definitely not on your own with this issue i.e. system resets and/or hard crash. There are some references to the new Geforce Experience overwriting certain settings on-the-fly when a game loads. Might be worth trying a driver roll-back (and a custom/clean install) to an older release.
