if looks is a big thing for you then two GTX 760 is a pretty good choice.

For 2560x1440 an R9 290X would a better choice than the GTX 780.
The higher memory bandwidth will translate into more perofmance and the 4GB of memory will ensure that you don't run out of memory when more demanding titles are released.

I don't recommend the reference R9 290X because it doesn't have much overclocking headroom left in it, so wait for the non-reference cards to pop from Asus, MSI, Gigabyte and the rest of the board partners.

The 780 Ti will be out of your budget.
