My case is the v71 thermaltake

Which can be seen by clicking on the name above.

The red light near the circle power button sometimes rarely blinks and sometimes it will blink for a long period then go back to doing it a little bit at a time. I was wondering if I should be worried about this or is it just a normal function with my case.

Sounds like the HDD LED. Perfectly normal.

Yeah, I'd expect some kind of activity light. See if you can trace the wires from the button to see which header they plug into on the mobo.

Seems to be a hard drive indicator LED. It is something most cases have. They aren't really necessary, but can be helpful.
