Hi guys! When I built my computer, I bought 16GB (8x2) Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200mhz. On my ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VIII HERO ALPHA motherboard, it says that it is 2400 (or I think 2444) mhz. I remember that in the manual it had asterisks next to the higher clock speeds, including 3200 mhz, but I could not find where it head to. How do I fix this. Also, yes this is important, and even though there really isn't a big difference, I really want it to work, so please help me fix it. Thanks.

What is XMP? Will turning "it" on be overclocking? Will it damage the memory?

XMP = eXtreme Memory Profile.

The XMP is programmed into your DRAM sticks by the manufacturer -- all you are doing is reading and loading the profile settings onto the motherboard.

'Skylake' and 'Kaby Lake' CPUs officially support up to DDR4-2133, and anything above is considered "overclocking" of the Integrated Memory Controller (IMC) ...inside the CPU.

That said, the IMC on the last few generation of Intel CPUs are VERY robust and should have no issues handling 2800 MHz ~ 3200 MHz (or even 3400 MHz) 80%+ of the time.

No, you will not damage the memory, as they are advertised to operate at 3200 MHz ...and whatever timings/latency and voltage.

So I only have to enable that XMP feature. I've never overclocked before. I won't have to change voltage or anything like that?

It would automatically change the voltages to 1.35V for you.
