Today I got home and went to go on my computer I powered my PC on and it said that I needed Steam update or refresh and asked me if my login information in I did so and after that Steve said it was starting in this message popped up

"the steam install folder is currently not writable this could cause issues with some steam features and running games. Steam needs to repair this error and then restart."

Than it said repair and ignore at the bottom. I clicked repair, and then yes then nothing happened and the same message popped up again, also I cannot run any other applications, not even start I click it but nothing loads.

Please help

Edit: Microsoft edge ans store have both dissapear ed, and I just found this but nothing happens when I hit Run Scan.

Can you press CTRL+ALT+Delete and access task manager from there?

Also, what version of Windows are you using?

I know this is the stereotypical question, but have you restarted? Sounds like your harddrive isn't mounted correctly. You could also try running steam with admin permissions.

Build: Intel S2600gz, 2x E5-2670, EVGA SC 1070, Zotac 1060 6GB mini, 48GB Micron 1333mhz ECC DDR3, 2x Intel DPS-750XB 750 watt PSU

Do you have another device such as another Laptop or another Desktop available to you? Try using a USB flash drive, installing some sort of hard drive monitoring tool ON THE USB and then plug the usb in your problematic computer, and running the software.

My guess is a failing hard drive, but it could be anything. It's also good to know if your pc will read USB's. @Danieldcm101202
