I wouldn't expect so.  Most games still only require 8gb of RAM right now I think so anything above that should be fine.

There isn't a major difference, I would recommend 16GB though...

The only time ram will make a major difference is if its an AMD APU, where higher speed ram will help because it uses that for the iGPU.

As this is posted in pre-builds its a possibility youre asking for it in a system thats using an apu? idk. Thought i'd throw that info out there

12gb is an odd amount though, didn't think anyone made 6gb stick anymore, unless it has a mix of 1 8gb + 1 4gb, or 3 4gb's. but that'd be weird..

Yeah if you have a lot of different programs open RAM capacity matter but so does your CPUs ability to manage all those programs.
