. So ive been troubleshooting for the last hour or so,  and i cannot find the issue with my rig. I need help.

Specs :

I7 3770k

8gb evga ssc ddr3 @ 1600mhz

Ecs z77 h2 a2x deluxe 2.0

Cx750m 750w corsair psu

850 evo 250gb + 3tb seagate barracuda + 250gb seagate 250gb 7200.10

Dual r9 290x tri x

The rig just stays stuck on a b2 error code ( according to ami bios codes, which this board uses,  its "legacy option ROM initialization")   and displays nothing.  I know it  isn't the gpu,  because I've tested them on another platform,  and they work fine.  Psu also is confirmed working. Cannot test other parts,  but sata drives and add in card failure wouldn't be an issue.

Things I've tried so far :

-reset cmos

-no cmos battery

- only one ram stick,  swapped them around

-no ram,  surprisingly the board still outputs three beeps,  meaning it acknowledged the absence of ram.

-moved around jumpers

-tried igpu.

-removed all peripherals, sata  drives and add in cards.

-unplugged all fans

Does anyone have an idea of what could be wrong?  I'm suspecting the board or cpu ( probably the cpu) ,  but i have no way to test this.

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case

Windows 7, 8 or 10?

Are you able to get into your bios?

If its a legacy oprom issue, go into the bios and enable (or disable) it. Win7 requires legacy oprom (and CSM) to be on, whereas win8/10 can work from both.

Also check your SATA mode in bios, this has to be the same as when you installed windows (ATA, RAID, or AHCI) AHCI is the preffered method but if you installed windows with either of the other modes, that will have to be set.

When in doubt, re-format.

Windows 10 ,  anniversary.

Unfortunately,  the problem is that i can't get into the bios.  Monitor says no signal,  yet ive tested both the screen and hdmi cable,  and thet work.

So it seems thw board just gave out it's last hurrah.  It doesn't beep anymore and the post code light doesn't turn on either

Could be board or cpu. I would try to test out the board with a different cpu or check your cpu in a different board before buying anything.

I don't have any unfortunately.  Problem is i don't want to put money into an old platform like lga 1155.

Both z77  boards and ivy /sandy bridge CPU's are quite expensive here.

They're expensive everywhere if you try to buy new, since they haven't been produced in years. I meant more along the lines of if you have friends with the same socket.

To buy old hardware, you will have to look on the used market, and picking up an old z77board should be pretty cheap if you can find sellers in your area.

That's what i meant.  I don't have friends with lga 1155 rigs,  and even on the used market,  z77 boards are rare and usually cost more than a 100 euro,  and 3770k's cost 200+ euro.
