I'm in the process of wanting to build a new system. Right now I have this setup.

CPU: i7-4770K

CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H110

Motherboard: Maximus VI Gene

Ram: HyperX Savage 16gb model:  HX318C9SRK2/16

HD: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB

Video Card: EVGA GTX 970 FTW+

Case: Cooler Master N200

Right now all I do is Game. Games like Doom, Dayz, Batman Games, COD Games, Battlefield Games. Really anything FPS or 3rd person. I want to start streaming on Twitch also. My budget right now is at $2000.00 US dollars. Questions I got are am I gaining anything from upgrading to the new stuff like Skylike or Kaby Lake. Want to go with ATX or larger motherboards, really need a better case so I don't want to reuse that. Thanks for everything.

That CPU is enough for streaming.... I dont think it would be worth it to upgrade to a newer CPU at all (Even for an X-99 platform, streaming wont require that many cores).

A GPU on the other hand, for sure could be useful if your planning a resolution upgrade or just to provide higher settings to the general audience with better quality for those with already better displays, without taking onto consideration the bazillian compression algorithms and low datarates that didnt allow me to stream, etc.

Stick with that CPU and Mobo, theyr excellent as of now :/.

Yeah I also want to get a lot better monitor. All I got right now is a regular old 1080P Asus monitor. Would like to get the new one with G-sync and 144hz. Yeah I was not really sure if that CPU was still good for doing gaming and streaming at the same time.

Thanks to a certain company, any monitor with G-sync bumps up the price in comparison to Freesync. But at such frame rates it is probably important to have it to prevent things like tearing. I don't get that at 60 FPS max.

A lot of the time games aren't really CPU bound as they are GPU, but some parts of game do need to make use of the CPU regardless. So a half decent CPU is okay. I spent more on a i7 6700K, but looking back on it I should have put more money on the GPU.
