So theres three different tests i ran. I finally got my RMA with NCIX worked out and my H220 installed (its so sexy) so now its time for temp approval.

for the test im using 4 x Noctua NF-F12's plus 2 x Enermax Vegas Duos on ultra low (dead silent just there for aesthetics) The Noctua's have the low voltage adapter. over its fairly silent but ironically has made my system louder. I'll be doing some fan management later on.

Im using a 3570K on an Asrock Fatal1ty with the radiator in the front

room temp is around 24c

At stock speeds i was seeing

Idle:

  • ~23c overall
  • 27c max on the hottest core

Prime95

  • ~55c overall
  • 63c max on the hottest core

At a 4.5Ghz w/ 1.22v

Idle:

  • ~28c overall
  • 33c max on the hottest core

Prime95

  • ~72c overall
  • 78c max (peak) on the hottest core

i then tested an spitball overclock (BSOD'ed after 4hrs on P95) at 4.6Ghz with a +.135v offset (1.248v)

Idle:

  • ~28c overall
  • 35c max on the hottest core

Prime95

  • ~75c overall
  • 80c max (peak) on the hottest core***

overall im pretty happy with these results especially considering all the fans are practically dead silent.

HOWEVER, coming from a Hyper 212 EVO, im not that impressed for price to performance. the 212 was able to keep the same 4.5 overclock at a peak of 85c and an average of 82c. is it worth the 10c delta? not really. not for the price. but non the less i'm happy with the results.

the cooler was a pain in the arse to mount so there may be an issue with the thermal paste.

***sat around 76-77c so maybe a read error

Thanks for reading and lemme know what you think of my temps.

My Kraken x60 cools an FX 6350 @1.475v and I haven't seen my temps over 42C, but then again the x60 has a 280mm rad

These temps are kind bad...

My Pc: Cpu: I7 4790k @ 4,8 Ghz @1,25 volts, Motherboard: Maximus VII Formula, Graphicscard: 2x Titan X @1,4 at stock voltage (soon to be replaced), Ram: 32 gb Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133 Cl 9, SSD: 2x 850 Pro 1 Tb in Raid 0, 2x Samsung 840 Evo 1 tb raid 1,, PSU: Corsair HXi Series 1000W 80+ Platinum, Case: H440. Soon to be watercooled again, maybe, probably, the Titans are too loud.

you have a

1. larger rad

2. lower TDP. safe for your CPU is below 60c. for mine its below 85c.

how so?

The TDP of a stock FX 6350 is 125W, a 3570K has a TDP of 77W

right but temps wise, AMD should not get past 70c

AMD usually says to stay around 62c.

You cannot comapre the TDP of Intel and AMD chips. They measure TDP differently, which results in Intel getting consitently lower TDPs.

thats what i was trying to say.

you cannot compare an AMD processor temps to an Intel's.

No you mis-understood me. You can comapre AMD to intel if you know the true power the chips run at. However, Intel defines TDP differently to AMD.

It's like saying AMD runs hotter than Intel because AMD has a higher temps, and AMD were measuring temp in F and Intel were measuring temp in C. That example is not true and quite inaccurate but shows the difference well.
