What do i need to overclock a cpu a gpu and ram?

CPU: Go to BIOS

RAM: Go to BIOS

GPU: Use MSI Afterburner

Oh and you need knowledge too

when you say knowledge are you referring to a software or actually knowledge? also do z170/z270 mobos support ram ocing

Probably not a lot of point in overclocking RAM. But have fun with that.

 

CPU is something you should do some internet research on. You need to look at things like how hot you should let your CPU get within a safe margin. The Intel page usually says how much the maximum is (after which your whole system will likely shutdown immediately), but other people who have already overclocked the CPU can probably give you their bets on what is a stable higher figure. That way when you slowly bump up the figured one bit at a time in the BIOS and do a stress test for a while (using Prime95 for example), you know what will be stable in the long term.

 

As for the GPU, you get to have fun on the software level. They can go a bit hotter, but same rule applies like the CPU. Once you reach a point where you can't go any higher and the display driver keeps crashing, then you'll have to slowly put up the voltage. Just be very careful of this, as the increase in voltage will make the biggest difference in temperature.
