I'm using the stock SLI bridge that came with the X99-A Asus motherboard. One area of my rig that I think I can upgrade to make it look better overall is the SLI bridge, but they seem to be quite expensive considering it is just a cable. Apart from the physical appearance, are there any other benefits of using after-market SLI bridges?

Unless your doing something like 4K or high refresh rates I believe it was not a problem up to 2560x1440p @60hz.

sli bridges do the same thing stock sli bridges to $50 bridges they all do the same thing its only for looks

Not 100% true.... if you are maxing out your cards on a 3 screen display you will see a bit better between a ribbon and a solid, mostly is stability not in overall performance. Ribbon vs solid, solid  wins. Solid vs solid..... dosent really matter.
