i currently have an AMD FX 8320 and 8gb of ddr3 RAM and my CPU can currently play all the games i want at stock speeds (i can get a aftermarket cooler and overclock it) but should i get a ryzen or kaby lake CPU and new DDR4 RAM and a new Motherboard for a lot of money or get some more DDR3 RAM and overclock my current CPU or get something like a FX 8370 for a lot less money

Note that im really clumsy and afraid of breaking something like a new Mobo

also i have this Mobo at the moment can I OC on that

I would just overclock your current CPU and get a bit of extra ram. Does it actually feel like you need the RAM though?

What do you feel like you're limited by?

im guessing that its RAM because watch dogs 2 runs at 30-40 fps with a rx 480 and FX 8320, and i have a FX 8320 and 980 Ti and getting about 1-30 fps no matter the settings or resolution

I think this is a CPU issue more than RAM right now. Your CPU needs to process all those frames properly so start by overclocking cpu is my best throw at this.

Watch Dogs is just really terribly written, honestly. But in that case, how is CPU utilization while gaming?

I agree. ^ Please check CPU usage.

Hmm. I'd say wait for Ryzen or go for a 6600k/7600k now.

If you upgrade what you have now and stick with an FX processor, you'll probably need/want to upgrade in 6 months - 1 year. Even if you buy the fx9590 there won't be a very good performance gain over your current system.

In my case scenario, my cpu is my one major bottleneck. I use a i5-3570k clocked at 4.6GHz and that's not enough to keep pushing my GTA V game enough. Surprisingly, my GTX660Ti PE OC can push all those frames out at 60fps when I play most things on High but my CPU can't take it. It's constantly over 90% usage and at times peaking at 100%. Eventually my game crashes cause my cpu simply can't process the frames enough.

Hahaha it's a big jump from my 3rd generation i5 to a the next gen or even the 6th gen. I'm going to need something more powerful. The i5 3570k is honestly not that powerful and doesn't suit my needs enough. This was my first build a couple years back and is pretty much my only regret. It's come a long way and I'm surprised it's handling okay in terms of day-to-day performance. I just don't feel satisfied.

I say save up to Ryzen or a Intel equal but for now I would consider looking into the settings on WD2 and see if there is something you should not have maxed that may cause your high CPU usage? :D

Depends what GPU you have, what games you play at what resolution and what is your performance target.

My GPU is a gtx 980 Ti, most demanding games are fallout 4 (runs just fine), watch dogs 2 (sub 30 fps no matter the settings), Cities: Skylines(60 fps on max settings for first ~30 hours of the city then starts to lag because of the size, and the AI of 100000+ people and even then still runs at 30 fps unless its really zoomed in)I want to play at 1080p 30+ fps.

also im cant respond for awhile because i got other stuff to do

i would upgrade your CPU if you are gaming somewhat a lot...FX-8320 is not up to the task of feeding a GTX 980ti in games unless you aim for 4K 30FPS.
