Headset works, but mic does not.

Hello everyone! I recently purchased a HyperX Cloud Core headset to use with my laptop, as my old Afterglow Ps3 headset finally got too uncomfortable to bear. The problem is, I can plug it in and the headset will work for incoming audio, but the microphone will not work or is not even detected by my Asus x550la laptop. I thought it was because it needed the headphone and mic (pink and green) plugs to be connected, so I bought the splitter from the HyperX Website to convert them to one 3.5mm jack, which plugs into my laptop's headphone port (it only has the one) but to no avail. I'm in the process of building an actual PC where I know for a fact it will work, but I really want it to work on my laptop in the meantime. If anyone can help me, I appreciate it.

Does your program have a pust to talk key?

Only one jack, but somehow I actually just fixed it.

What I did was: Reinstall Sound Drivers, nothing happened, tinker with audio, nothing happened.

Reinstall Video Drivers, nothing happened, tinker with audio exactly the same way as before, problem solved.

Just trying to get clarification.  Should like your headset has a TRRS male 3.5mm connection (4 contacts), and you purchased a splitter that has 1x female TRRS 3.5mm connection with 2 Male TRS 3.5mm connections.  Do you have a link or a part number for the splitter you purchased?  I just wanted to make sure it is a segregating splitter, and not mimicking splitter.  The mic signal needs to be segregated from the audio, or you basically end up with an adapter you can plug 2 sets of headphones into.  If you aren't sure, go ahead and plug a second set of headphones into the adapter, if you get audio through both.....you have the wrong splitter.

I bought a 2 female to 1 male splitter because the headset has a headphone and a microphone jack, but my laptop only has the one 3.5mm port. It works now though. What I bought was  Headset Splitter Cable (10cm) 3.5mm to 4 pole
Part Number: HXS-HSSP1
