Car stereo jailbreak?

So I'm not expecting this post to get much if any traction but I thought it was worth asking. Do any of you know how to, or a place where I can learn how to jailbreak my new car stereo? I installed a new deck in my car so I can have fancy touchscreen/handsfree tech in my 9-year-old Pontiac Grand Prix (still worth it though) and learned from my brother that he has a friend who has jailbroken one before so that he was able to mirror his phone screen on the stereo. I mean like a full mirroring where you can go in and out of apps and all the fancy shit your normal phone already does. This is horribly unnecessary but also extremely tempting to do. The stereo is a Pioneer AVH-X2800BS. I don't know if the specific stereo matters or if all of the AVH codenames can be jailbroken the same way.

 

So how do I do it? I haven't been able to get into contact with my brother's friend and see if I can get any info from him. I tried googling it but that yielded no useful results and venturing past the 2nd page of Google are pastures I'd rather not wander in. All I'm really asking for here is at most a forum or some kind of website dedicated to jailbreaking anything and everything so I at least have somewhere to begin to search for myself.

While I don't have the answer I do hear your polite. I bought a cheap Chinese head unit because I wanted all the functions but my wallet was not up for the fight. On installing it I found it did not do all the advertisements said and the seller was unhelpful. I don't have the money for a good unit and I don't want to take the risk of buying another cheap one. I know you can model these but finding what you need is confusing. I would love to jail brake it and find out what I can really get out of it. I suppose  my main reason for wanting to change it would be to place apps on it.

It does make me wonder though.. DC's are really a thing of the pass, so is a car unit these days just a tablet with more sound out puts?

It’s a special mirroring software called Mirrorlink installed on Android head units that can’t run ZLink. IMO CarPlay is just better. There is no such thing as a Jailbreak, but you can update the software if available.

I’ve got an Android head unit from Joying atm. They run fantastic, but they aren’t bright in the sun. Sound quality isn’t an issue as I have an amp.

Go to www.avic411.com and ask there. Some decks have wireless mirroring built in, no special firmware needed. I don't think that deck you have will have the ability to do what you want but if anyone is gonna know for sure they will be on that forum
