If you get this, you only need to upgrade your GPU and you good to go.

Damn, thanks

So I want to build a kickass PC somewhere down the line - like everybody else on this forum. But since that is expencive I want to build a PC for the meantime, which I can then gradually upgrade.

The Meantime-PC

For the "end result" I am planning to switch out:

  • The i5-6600k for an i7-6700k
  • The Dark Rock Advanced for an Corsair H100i v2
  • The single stick of memory will be stocked up to 32GB total
  • The 480 for a 1080 (or 1080ti if I feel like it's worth it)

I have a case (the nzxt s340 elite in black) and all my storage needs covered, which is why they are not listed above.

Any thoughts/suggestions on for either of the builds?

75% of what I say is sarcastic

So is the rest probably

Might as well just save up for that future build or upgrade to the i7 and cooler now and grab a 1080 or 1080 Ti later.

Actually, you are right. It's only an additional 150 bucks or something. Thanks

If that's the case:

PCPartPicker part list: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/9fGsM8
Price breakdown by merchant: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/9fGsM8/by_merchant/

CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor  (€387.84 @ Mindfactory)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H115i 104.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  (€140.89 @ Amazon Deutschland) A bit better than the H100i v2
Motherboard: Asus Z170 PRO GAMING/AURA ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  (€168.00 @ Amazon Deutschland) If this doesn't come with the updated BIOS for KabyLake, I think you can update it in the BIOS with Asus motherboards.
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory  (€109.00 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon RX 480 8GB NITRO+ OC Video Card  (€274.99 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Power Supply: Corsair RMx 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply  (€97.84 @ Mindfactory) This will be enough for a 1080 overclocked.
Total: €1178.56

If you get this, you only need to upgrade your GPU and you are good to go.
