yup just change out the power supply

Its not a standard case tho... It has a weird hotswap supply, should be decent quality tho. I mean, its a server so it has to be good?

I understand. Would the dual cpu system require a win10 pro liscense?

not necessarily a window 10 home will work also if you feel unsafe trying home get a cheap licence from https://www.kinguin.net/category/19429/windows-10-professional-oem-key/

edit: read this for more info http://www.hp.com/canada/products/landing/workstations/files/13277_na.pdf

the power supplies in those things are actually really good quality, they just dont look like it. (because looking like it is wasted money in HP's pro lineup)

so as long as the wattage is there (which, i'm sure they have a spare 6-pin in a system like that) they are good to go.

i am just concerned with age but yes i agree. as time goes on the caps degrade.

It has a 6pin connector and its 600w so 100w more than required for an rx480 8gb rs

a quick google backs this up, win10 home "should" support two physical processors.

i have a 10 year old 250 watt box from one of their office critters that still gladly pushes its rated wattage, and about everything else in the machine i got it from was a balloon, so i'm not overly worried on that field :P

an OS doesnt "perform" ;)

Would the os be better optimized for two cpus?

there's no such thing really, it's the software that runs on top of your OS hat needs to be optimized for the amount of cores.

Ok

Psu is powerfull enough but only has one 6pin, is there a way to adapt one molex and one 6pin into one 8 pin?

i thought the rx480 was 6-pin, or am i wrong?

certainly in these instances, i REALLY recommend against using adapters, you can do it, it's most likely fine, but on the off chance bad things happen, i'm not involved ;)

The refference rx480 is six pin, no-one sells that card here tho... I went out to buy a rx480 nitro+ 8gb but noticed it was 8pin....
