This seems to be something else, by Googling I found some kind of 3.5" power connector. Will look more into it.

I think it's a JST connector https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JST_connector

 

Looking at the chart there it specifies a lot of different sizes. I think this one is ZH.

 

Or as stated in the notes there " Some people confuse with Molex PicoBlade.[citation needed] "

No, it's some proprietary embedded motherboard. I spent 40 minutes googling every single number and string written on it that resembled a model number and got nothing. It's from IEI Technologies but their website only has their newest products.

Been trying to look, my last guess is that it is some proprietary connector.

USB will not work as it only gives 5V, SATA connector needs 12V as well.

I dont think all 2.5" drives need 12V.

Sata has both 5V, 12V and ground (12V being left unused in 2.5" drives).

If it's left unused then just plug the 12v to the 5v as well and it'll be dandy. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) 

I would like to try that. I mean as long as the drive only uses 5v, why not?( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Hard drives are very likely to need, especially 3.5" ones. USB can provide 5V and 0.5A on a single 2.0 connection, for a total of 2.5W (4.5 W with USB 3.1 Gen1). Consumer 3.5" hard drives draw around 7 or 8 watts while idle.

 

But yea, you could try and build something. Or just see if you can go the more modern route and ease the headache. :P

This isn't for 3.5" harddrives and actually a lot of 2,5" harddrives work with only 5v and 0.5A. Don't you know all of those external harddrives that only use a single USB connector? I've seen both for Gen 2.0 and gen 3.0. And an SSD most likely uses less than harddrives. And this very specific case I'm working on in this embedded system uses only SSDs.
