What is this connector called?

It goes to SATA power for a harddrive or SSD. We need to buy more but can't for the life of me figure out what it's called. 

 

Help is very much appreciated.

Its for powering floppy drives.

I think its based off the molex standard

We gathered as much, the old guy I work with kept calling it a floppy. Still though, not sure what to search for to buy a buttload of them.

That Berg connector only has 1 bump at the top and also has 2 bottom corners.

This seems to be something else, by Googling I found some kind of 3.5" power connector. Will look more into it.

Oh yeah. We had a couple of those Berg ones to compare. This one is way smaller than the Bergn connector.

Looking at the chart there it specifies a lot of different sizes. I think this one is ZH.

I don't remember. We did measure it but the connector is at the office.

Maybe. We have a small embedded motherboard with the header on the board and we want this to power the SSD/HDD. There is no other source of power unless we jurryrig the USB header to power it but I doubt that'll be reliable.

Doubt that its that, 50V is way too much

Do you remember the model of the mobo?

No, it's some proprietary embedded motherboard. I spent 40 minutes googling every single number and string written on it that resembled a model number and got nothing. It's from IEI Technologies but their website only has their newest products.

Been trying to look, my last guess is that it is some proprietary connector.

USB will not work as it only gives 5V, SATA connector needs 12V as well.

EDIT: Yup, saw your post now, then it is likely it is that.

I dont think all 2.5" drives need 12V.

Sata has both 5V, 12V and ground (12V being left unused in 2.5" drives).

I don't think so. I've seen the headers in a lot of other boards and circuitry. Just not in consumer devices. Well it might be, I guess.

If it's left unused then just plug the 12v to the 5v as well and it'll be dandy. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) 

I would like to try that. I mean as long as the drive only uses 5v, why not?( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

You might want to try contacting the manufacturer of the board, they might know

Hard drives are very likely to need, especially 3.5" ones. USB can provide 5V and 0.5A on a single 2.0 connection, for a total of 2.5W (4.5 W with USB 3.1 Gen1). Consumer 3.5" hard drives draw around 7 or 8 watts while idle.

 

But yea, you could try and build something. Or just see if you can go the more modern route and ease the headache.

This isn't for 3.5" harddrives and actually a lot of 2,5" harddrives work with only 5v and 0.5A. Don't you know all of those external harddrives that only use a single USB connector? I've seen both for Gen 2.0 and gen 3.0. And an SSD most likely uses less than harddrives. And this very specific case I'm working on in this embedded system uses only SSDs.
