Audio Production Pc

A friend of mine had his laptop die recently and wants to build a new desktop. His main goal is audio production, mostly edm. (And lets be honest, gaming) I havent a clue of what he needs for this and am open to any ideas. I dont need a specific build for a given budget, just to be pointed in the right direction.

That depends on the programs he wants to use. Apple products are most popular among musicians, producers, and sound engineers because of how good Garageband and Logic Pro X are.
