Looking for a headset or headphones and a mic. I'd like to stay around $100 but can go up closer to $150 CAD. I've been looking at many different options such as NW-800 and the v-moda boompro, main problem with the NW is after getting a cheap stand and a usb sound card it ends up being ~$60 which would take up a lot of the budget if I don't go higher then $150. I haven't decided which pair of headphones I'm going to get if any. iIf I end up getting the v-moda then I'll need a new headset. I was also looking at the hyperx cloud 1, the two's don't seem like their worth the extra $20-30, no matter what setup I get I'm also going to get the syba usb stereo adapter or some other usb sound card.

I mainly play CS GO and just watch YouTube, which includes music. I'm not an audiophile so I'm not sure what kind of sound I'm looking for, I've been using the razer krakens and they seem ok but I don't have anything to compare them to other then cheap Walmart earbuds. So anything good for listening to footsteps and such on CS GO and listening to music and such on YouTube is what I'm looking for in my headphones. Mic is just anything that sounds decent.

Thanks.

If you play CS:GO, directional audio can be very important. Knowing which corner a person is walking around before you see them can be very useful. I know the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700x/900x have very good soundstage for positional audio and adding a Modmic shouldn't be too hard but I don't know how much the 700x cost in CAD, USD they are about $95.

Even the AD500X is $141 CAD, they may be really good but if I can spend less I definitely want to, thanks for the suggestion though. maybe I'll bite the bullet and buy a pair but plus a mic is more then half the money I have saved.

EDIT: Do you know if I can order from .com and shit to Canada?

Man that sucks they are so expensive. I know the Audio Board has a list of recommended gear in a pinned thread in the Audio section, that might help you

Find a hyperx cloud core / cloud 1, will get the job done, sounds better than majority gaming headsets out there. They are made by Takstar, a well known audio brand.

Other than that, have a look at SHP9500 + vmoda boompro, they are a wonderful combo.

Razer are garbage, idk why people still buy their headsets, sounds awful, all bass, awful highs and the build quality is awful.

Yea a local staples has one pair of the 1's left, I was leaning toward the shp9500 but one bad comment shadows many good and the price of the cloud skewed my decision a bit more. In the future if I ever get back into gaming a ton and upgrade my system I'll probably get sennheiser hd 598 or  Beyerdynamic DT770 or something like that.

Razer was my first gaming headset, I almost got turtle beach so I guess razer wasn't too bad. They lasted almost 4 year of abuse so for 12-13 and first ever it wasn't too bad. But other then that idk, it's like a lot of other things you're paying for the brand.

Thanks for the input.

Clouds are the best in the price point tho, no headset can come close to it in the price range..

SHP9500 and HD558 are good headphones, i suggest looking at both of em.

558 is identical to 598 so you don't need the upgrade, just do a simple mod and it will become a 598 pronto.

And 558 can fit a vmoda boompro with minor modification. With all this being said, i would lean on 558 more than SHP9500 if you're will to do the little dirty work.

The price difference in Canada isn't much but I guess doing mods it would be worth it. What mod turns them from 58 to 98's. I've seen the vmoda mod.
