Hi, my dad is getting the Seiki 4k 39 inch or 50 inch (because he can :P). All he does is watch movies from Netflix or DVD's/Blu-Ray's. He is currently running a GT520 with a 1650x1050 monitor. Now obviously a GT520 has as much horsepower as my trashcan so he needs a new GPU. What is the cheapest Graphics card to run 4k Video Playback with 2 + displays (might get dual monitors w/ the TV). No gaming is going on whatsoever. I'm thinking the GT640 4GB Edition because it supports the 3+1 monitor surround from nVidia and the 4gb's just because of the VRAM. Should my dad get a beefier Graphics card like a 760 4gb edition or stick with the GT640 4GB?

Don't get the 4K TV because you can't get any content and it needs a lot of bandwidth. Just get a 1080p TV.

He's getting it anyways and I'm not complaining either I want a 4k TV lol and I'd love to see some samples, also it would "last longer" in the terms of resolution.

I just looked up the prices for these TV's and now i am asking myself 'How come that these TV's are so cheap?' Why are they so cheap?`Like 1000$ for a 50 inch 4k tv? We have a Samsung Smart TV 50 inch (1080p) and that one was 3000€...

My Pc: Cpu: I7 4790k @ 4,8 Ghz @1,25 volts, Motherboard: Maximus VII Formula, Graphicscard: 2x Titan X @1,4 at stock voltage (soon to be replaced), Ram: 32 gb Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133 Cl 9, SSD: 2x 850 Pro 1 Tb in Raid 0, 2x Samsung 840 Evo 1 tb raid 1,, PSU: Corsair HXi Series 1000W 80+ Platinum, Case: H440. Soon to be watercooled again, maybe, probably, the Titans are too loud.

Well it is cheap because at 4k it is 30Hz so there's that. Maybe the panel but apparently in the amazon reviews its good. its 120Hz at 1080p and it up scales too. I really have no actual idea, I think it is witchcraft.

hd 7770 or gtx 650 and say no to 4gb vram for 4k videos

the 4gb's just because of the VRAM.

use msi afterburner to see the vram usage. download some 4k samples and watch some 4k videos on youtube. do you see it going over 500mb ? so...yeah ,4gb is a waste

Ok I know what GPU to get probably a GTX 760 or 270x. I'll decide later but he is running 4gb's of RAM (2gbx2) and an Athlon X4 750k will he need any upgrades (RAM might be one so I'll add it). He has a high end motherboard for the FM2 platform and he has a 450w psu which I do know will support a 760 and a 270x.
