Overclock not working?

I have an i7 6700k and a Corsair H100i v2 and an Asus Z170 pro Gaming motherboard. I have gone into the BIOS and switched the frequency multiplier to 46, but my CPU is still at 4GHz. Is there anything else I must do in order for an overclock to have an effect?

Do you have auto-voltage on?

I didn't change it, so i assume yes. Do I need to up the voltage as well?

Your CPU will only run at its max OC when it is under load.

Try running a cpu stress test like prime 95 or cinebench and see if your speed goes up to 46.

Nope, only 4GHZ when running Cinebench

Also, where are you reading this 4GHz? are you using CPU-z or are you just going off of what task manager/computer properties in windows says?

Task manager and prifirom are bad. Use CPU Z instead

To my knowledge, speccy only gives you the actual specs from the box for the cpu and not what its currently running at.

Don't look at taskman at all for this.

Check out CPU-z, I have a feeling it is working just fine.

lol, was about to post some more troubleshooting with AI suite and other junk.
