So this is a thread for my friends computer. I believe his powersupply died, but all we did was take out his old parts and put in a new mobo, cpu, and memory. The PSU is an EVGA Gold PSU, 600w I believe. When he hits the powerbutton, literally the fans come on for a split second before turning off again, does not cycle. I am going to try to replace the PSU with a backup one I have, but any ideas? Possibly dead motherboard? Would it do that? (Fans are connected to the motherboard and not PSU directly)

When a PSU dies, sometimes it takes other bits down with it. Replace the power supply, and if it doesn't work, try to test individual components to see if something else was destroyed when the PSU died. Also, the Mobo could be dead and immediately shutting off.

I'll try that. We dont have another motherboard to really test. I'll try my best though.

Good luck
