Earphone differences?

Is there different types of earphone depending in the type of material on the ear part? This sounds stupid but I'll explain. Most earphones have the rubber tips on the end but on apples previous gen earphones it was circular shaped plastic. I'm asking because the rubber tipped ones don't fit in my ear so I'd like to purchase a good pair of ones like apples current gen or previous gen earphones as I've just dropped my current apple headphone down the toilet unfortunately... anyways aside from my misery if anyone could help me much appreciated

Well I think you can get foam tips like how the jaybird x2 comes with (I think they do, atleast)
