Hd audio won't fit the pins

I'm trying to plug my HD audio into my mobo and when I try to put the connector in it gets blocked about halfway. I try to use some force but nothing budges. I'm using a z170 gaming m5 from msi Incase you are wondering but that won't make a difference I wouldn't have thought.
