i have a i 5 6500 with stock cooler,

hd3p z170 GB mobo,

a fractal IN3B 450W bronze PSU ,

ballistix 2400mhz 2x4gb ram

kingston hyper x fury 120 gb ssd

Then i added my 1060 strix 6gb from asus

and when firing up furmark i get a great amount of noise coming from my... wait for it..... CPU. Atleast that is what i thought it is. because when removing the 1060. i still get noise, really low that is, but it is still noticable to me from the CPU area.

after some research, some say it could be the PSU, other say it's the fans of the PSU, 1060 or CPU.

so i turned of the 1060 fans and lowered the CPU fan speed, still same noise, also with the 1060 removed.

i disabled all the modes of the c states in the bios. but still that noise, and I was starting to think it was my mobo

because with the 1060 going full blast, the noise was really loud, and without the 1060 not so much.

and the funny thing comes next. when moving my mouse, yes my mouse, i can hear the noise, when stopping my mouse the noise disappears, so i unplugged my g502 spectrum. i moved a long browser page with my arrow keys, you guessed it, same noise, when not moving the page the noise disappears

I really hate this because i'm sensitive to high pitch noise, and somethings it clicks like a harddrive (which btw i don't have in my system).

And I just payed 300 euros for my 1060 and i really don't want to send it back.

This is a link to the sound i mentioned, it sounds the same from about 13 to 15 seconds, that noise

If anyone has had the same problem please tell me what you did, i think i still have time to rma either my cpu or mobo (both a year old now) if in worst case scenario is needed (if they will accept the reason though).  because i'm also worried about frying a pc part

Coil Whine. Unfortunately nothing you can really do about it to be honest, and it's rare to find a company that will accept an RMA for it, especially given that the replacement will probably have the same issue. Someone else weigh in if they know better but I think you might just have to get used to it :/

I don't think so, when he removed the GPU it was gone. Unless CPU coolers can have it..?
