only posts after clearing cmos

Go to solution Solved by slightlyjaded,

and honestly It doesn't list support for xeon chips either, that might be worth a chat with asus first before replacing components.

I have the x99 deluxe motherboard from asus running an intel E5-2603 V4 1.7GHz. The ram is two dimms of this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820242215. My issue which is really weird is that the machine will only post after clearing the cmos. After that I get error code 19 which supposedly means Pre-memory PCH initialization has started.

I don't get why it will post and allow my to use the uefi and then after resetting it just gives me this error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The graphics card is a nvidia gt 710.

I also have a lsi raid card installed the m1015 can't cross flash it into it mode because of this issue though.

power supply is 1000w platinum

The memory is also installed in slot D1 and B1 as the manual says.

This is my opinion, it doesn't mean I'm right and is liable to change at any time. I may offend of which I apologize in advance.

Try pressing it to boot, should clear up a basic ram issue, if it's more than that, try pulling one of the ram sticks, and see if it'll boot with just one.

Used the mem ok and it still gave error code 19. Used clear cmos and it boots into uefi fine. This is with only one dimm installed.

Ahhh, might have figured it out...

ASUS deluxe motherboards do not support ecc memory.

At all? I have both registered and unbuffered dimms here. They are both ecc though. I don't have any non ecc around.

Called them now so hopefully they can tell me what i'm missing. Its probably just me not understanding how server grade hardware works. This is my first type playing with xeon chips and ecc memory. Thanks for all your help.

Checked the product spec page, specifically mentions that it does not support ECC memory at the end of the ram compatibility.

And not a problem.

Yo this is when you just face palm because you spent over $300 on ram that literally can't be used on any motherboard you have.
