SSD is only a little over a month old, had 2 drives get screwed up firmware this year...very sad, I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the front bays on my HAF XB, but that seems unlikely as I slip drives in and out of there all the time, and always shutdown before doing so.

Not worried about the data on it at all, just had some games on it, luckily I had the vastly superior never had an issue ever mechanical drive as my main drive, hadn't gotten around to installing the OS on the SSD.

I've heard the easiest fix is possibly just using the dd command to zero out the drive

but should I just return the thing and not bother? I should still be able to return it to amazon, might just spring for an 850 EVO this time instead of a budget SSD

that's the output Gparted gives me when using a live USB, can't format it in any way

Thanks

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

If its a io error, then its probably a bad drive. Id check smart data and probably time to rma it or get a new one.

I'd have to load up a linux something to do that, drive won't even get detected under windows, probably not worth the effort ya

bad drive then.

Was working fine otherwise, I'm sure something in my PC had something to do with it given my other drive having a firmware issue as well, that one was a brand new WD black drive, my replacement had no issues though
