Here are my recommendations:

  • Depending on what you are looking for from a feature perspective, I would recommend an Asus Z170-A or an EVGA Z170 motherboard for it's no frills feature set. If you spend more then you should justify why (i.e. WiFi, asthetics, etc.)
  • I would recommend going dual channel for the memory.  2x8GB DDR4-2133 would be better plus you have two more slots for future expansion

Everything else looks good.

1. Not a NEX PSU.

3. Crucial MX300 is better value (cheaper, reliable and more storage)

4. Any of the above mobo is fine. Get one that looks best to you

i used this website to compare both SSD and it appears that the samsung one is better

As for the power supply, im not sure what you mean.

What kind of memory would you recommend? i talked to one of my friends and he recommended  Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory

As for the motherboard im not looking for much in specific jsut something that is good for gaming and editing. Do you thing the MSI Z170A GAMING M5 LGA 1151 ATX Intel Motherboard would be a good choice?

+1 on the suggestion to go with a dual channel memory kit (i.e. 2x8GB). It will provide optimal memory performance. I would also suggest DDR4-2400 CL 15 or better. Again, no significant cost differential but marginally better performance.

A 550W or 650W psu would be a better capacity for the build. Also, the NEX psu are not terribly well rated. Especially when compared against the EVGA G2, GQ, and P2 models. Corsair RMX are also very good units.

In gaming and general use, ssd performance differences are not really noticeable. If performance is important, consider the newer generation Samsung 960 Evo.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

That RAM is a good choice.  Corsair Vengeance LPX, Crucial Ballistix, Kingston HyperX Fury, G.Skill Ripjaws are all good choices.

As for the motherboard it'll probably be fine. I've seen people experience shotty quality with MSI motherboards. Stories of bad DIMM slots, PCIe slots that come off motherboards, etc. I would like to think these are few and far between but don't have the data to be certain.  Guess that's why we have warranty :)

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory should do just fine right?

As for the PSU i will consider the recommendation you have given

No link on the memory kit. If it is part # CMK16GX4M2A2400C14 then it is a very good choice.

Wouldn't go for MSI, personally..

Try Asrock if you keen to overclock!

Same platform as the NEX 650W, equally bad. Don't get it.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

The EVGA NEX is the worst Supernova gold-rated series. The voltage regulation is mediocre, especially when compared to the similarly priced B2/GS/GQ/G2 which are all much better.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
