modem accident

 I accidentally connected my modem router to power outlet instead of phone jack. It took less than a second . now my modem works Ok but it makes some kind of fan noise( if u get close to it u can hear it ( about 25 cm ) . so what do i have to do ? ( TP-LINK (TD-W8901G) ) and i am not sure that this noise was there before too .

wait and see if it keeps working

by the way, how can you accidentally plug the phoneconnector (i assume RJ11) in to a power socket??????
