I am building a new machine with 3d printing as well as all around computer in mind.

So far:  - x99 Asus deluxe ii

            - Intel 6850k ( 40 lanes )

            - Corsair AX 1500i

            - Corsair Vengeneance LED 8 sticks low Ram

            - Phantek entho glass case

 

On the fence with: -  Titan XP or 1080SLI water cooled either way

                               - Brand type of water cooling

                               - Type of M.2 SSD

1500W psu is much larger than needed. Even allowing a generous allowance for oc and upgrades. Something around 1000W should be satisfactory.

 

Samsung 960 Evo would be a good choice of M.2 drive. If budget is not a consideration, the 960 Pro offers better performance.

 

Unless one is gaming, SLI generally offers nothing. If the 3D software being used supports gpu for rendering and can use multiple gpu, it will use the gpu directly. Compared to the GTX 1080, Titan XP has much higher memory bandwidth and 50% more memory, in addition to more processing units.

I was looking at the Samsung 960 pro... I am looking for the best deal then going to buy.

I picked the 1500i because I am trying something special that is going to require me to have more power available....Secret for now...

You have convinced me to pick up the Titan XP
