Hey guys! This is a repost of mine from my Reddit post on a question/troubleshooting quick fix I want to figure out. My network driver, by the way, still won't work :(:

Okay, since I haven't really had the luck to try and fix my motherboard network driver issue (see my earlier post), I was thinking that I could try and dual boot my PC into some Linux version of an OS. Since the driver seems like the most probable issue on here, would installing Linux aid the issue? I really want to fix this because I need WiFi for some stuff I'm working on, and cannot afford to leave my phone in some scenarios.

Any way this is manageable? Thank you!

Are you using the wifi or the wired?

What do you mean by "won't work". Does it install? Does it show link?

Id personally try a ubuntu usb stick(you don't need to install it, but boot from the usb). That will tell you if driver, I can't tell if you have tried this from the OP

Well, what I'm using right now is my phone to tether my WiFi to my PC, thanks to PdaNet+. The installation makes a new driver, but it doesn't interfere with my regular network driver. My regular network driver doesn't work. The WiFi symbol has a red X over it, and when I click on it, it says "No WiFi networks found."

Do you have a antenna connected correctly?

The network driver can be uninstalled and reinstalled through device manager, but if I try to uninstall through device manager and reinstall through HP's app, it denies me because I have to have Windows 8.1 :/

The adapter is built in the motherboard, so I don't have anything to plug in

You need a external antenna. The case is a faraday cage and won't let wifi in. It proably came in your box.

Wait really? Which box, the mobo or case? Because my motherboard came from a prebuilt so I can't do much. What's a faraday cage? I didn't know that could happen. But wait, what's the red x for, then?
