Hey there! I am getting myself a set of the Kanto Yumi speakers for my record player and I'm thinking I want to add a subwoofer as well. I am not going to be listening at loud volumes so I'm just looking for something that could hit the low frequencies really well, don't need to be too loud and would ideally be $150 or less. Thanks for the help!

Dayton Audio SUB-1000? Nothing special at all.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

Feel free to pm me if you have a question for me or quote me. If you want to hear what I have to say about something just tag me.

Why not get the Kanto sub? Cheaping out on a sub is usually not a great strategy for music, unless you want boomy, inarticulate bass.

I was just looking to see if that would be a recommendation or not, I don't know much about subwoofers so just wanted to see what people thought. Is that a good one?

Probably not, just wondering if your budget was open to something in that price range.

I would personally shoot for something like the SVS SB-1000.

the sub6 is on sale for 170$ and the sub8 for 200$. I do agree with SSL here, it is fairly important to get a good sub

Totally understand that I shouldn't cheap out but I just don't have more than $200 to spend on a sub. Any chance the sub6 is decent?

Thing is, those prices seem steep for such small subs. Maybe they are actually great, but this feels more like Audioengine pricing. At least with SVS you know you're within spitting distance of 20Hz +/- 6dB.

It's adorable, at least. 6" subwoofer in a sealed box is ridiculous. I would almost say try it just for shits and giggles.

Hahaha dude you're funny. I mean I'd rather just get a decent one if anything of the sort exists around $200. I don't really need loud, just accurate and good range. Hear anything good about monoprice 9723?

Actually, I think the Kanto sub6 wouldn't be a bad choice if you can get it for $170 or less. Sealed box is generally preferable for music, and there aren't many sealed-box subs below $500 new.

one of my audio friends keeps saying something about a earthquake sound ff6.5, but he is very random, so I only trust him a tiny bit.

Okay awesome I'm thinking I'll give it a shot then. I appreciate the help and I'll circle back when I get it in and get some tunes pumping through it
