False, I'm afraid. A powered hub can clean up noisy power from the PC, or supply a more stable supply.

 

This should only be necessary in the event of static or drop-outs in the audio played over USB.

So I do not have a dac yet but my headset has a usb, sould I run this straight to the usb on the motherboard or does it matter if I run it through a usb hub?
