I'm getting a monitor stand and I want to mount/stand a USB hub just inside the legs.

I'm looking for a USB hub with preferably 5+ plugs that is less than 3" wide/tall. Preferably with additional power outside of what it provided by bus power from my computer. I would also like to have the power/data go out the back and the plugs go out the front to keep it clean looking. If possible silver or black metal would be preferred. And if possible minimal LEDs on the front, status LEDs are fine. I don't mind paying more if quality/reputation is improved.

What is a good option for a powered hub that would fit that?

Unfortunately the only one in the list that is the right form factor (plugs in the front data and power in the back) is the 7 port which is too wide to fit vertically under the stand.

Also isn't anker just some company from China that is "good enough" for the price or have they actually started building reliable stuff?

No Anker has a good reputation and builds quality stuff.  https://www.anker.com/about

The one time I have had to contact anker about a faulty product, the product was already around 18 months old and they just sent me out a new one by premium post, it was also the newer model of the hub too, this is in the UK by the way. Their products are maybe a litle bit more expensive than the competition, but you can always tell that they are good quality. I have USB hubs with ethernet, quick charge 3.0 chargers, power banks, SATA to USB 3.0 adaptors... only ever had a different USB hub fail on me.

If they don't suit you then maybe have a look at other brands such as tecknet, but I think Anker has the better styling out of all the USB hubs.
