Hey, I don't have a lot of knowledge about headphones so I thought I would ask here for some recommendations.
I did do some research and came across one that was quite interesting:

Audio-Technica ATH-M40x

but I'm not sure if it's the best headphone for me,
if you know any better headset/headphone (microphone isn't required)
that follow the requirements below, please do tell me.

requirements:
budget is €50 - €120 ($52,00 - $125,00)
the headphone needs to be durable
the headphone must be able to produce positional audio (because I play cs-go)
the headphone must be over ear

the Sennheiser 598Cs are on amazon for $100 again, not sure how the soundstage compares to the 598's (probably not as good) but i'm sure they sound great for that price (not personally heard them though so maybe someone else weigh in ;p)

You could also look into the Beyerdynamics DT 770 pro and DT 990 Pro, both of which are only 2 or 3 dollars above your specified budget. The latter are open backed as well.

Edit: Might be obvious, but if you go with the latter ones, choose a lower impedance rating for best results without an amp probably :P

I have the ATH-MX20s (just got them yesterday), I was pretty impressed with the sound quality and isolation even on these the cheapest model. Although I still prefer my Siberia V2s for gaming as they are open back.

Closed back are essentially used when you want to block out the noise around you.

so with the new information (about open back headphones) and with the current recommendations I found the following headset:

Sennheiser HD 558

but I'm not quite sure about sennheiser for gaming?

it is open back, and the picture does seem durable? Hmm, but I dunno
maybe if I up my budget to €200 ? ($208,50) can someone find / recommend me a better choice ? :)
the reason why i am so picky is because I am planning to use the headphone for the next 5 - 8 years

HD558 will do plenty for you, its a good headphone, almost similar to the more expensive HD598.

Open back, will leak sound both in and out of the headphones, so using it on the go might not be that good as people can listen to what you're listening. You can also slap a modmic and you have a great gaming headset.

You will not regret getting these for gaming and rock music, edm tho i think you will say ok to these, if you treat them well, it can go up to 8-10 years :P

Note: Music is more sensitive/critical imo, sooo if the headphone excels in music department, it will be great for gaming.

I just don't understand why people spend so much money on headphones. You don't have to. It's like you're recommending a limo to go grocery shopping. Overkill. You just need something comfy that sounds good.

People can spend their money however they want, just because you don't want to drop money on your audio doesn't mean you should stop someone else from finding it worth the money.

Yeah, I see that. It's just shocking to see that the OP was ready to spend around 50~120 euros on a good pair of headphones and his budget basically doubled during the thread.

The reason why I am willing to pay a little more for a good headphone is simply because most headphones around €20 to €50 are
crap, not only in the sound quality but also in the (also very important) build quality. I find the €200 budget a bit overkill, but if that is what it takes
to keep me using the headset for 10 years, then it is money well spent. if I buy a cheap headphone for let's say 35 to 50 euros.
it the cheap headphone breaks every first or second year of use, I can buy the same one again.
but after 5-7 years the benefit of a cheaper less durable headset declines because the total prices rices. (the headphone itself may get cheaper but on the long run it may cost more than the "expensive headphone")
So you are paying the same or more over the long so why not invest in 1 good headset and get some nice features with it that you otherwise wouldn't have, like

better sounding... sound, more comfortable
