Couldn't you use a script blocker so not as many items load on a webpage (eg adverts and animations) so it in theory loads webpages faster? I have one enabled on chrome but it is generally so that dodgy sites dont send me crap and pop ups that I want to get rid of.

OP, when your dad calls, they will ask him to use ethernet to connect his PC to the modem and test the internet with one of their tests (which is run by the same ppl as speedtest.net). If you want to have not wasted his time, ensure that if you do the same thing (connect a PC to the modem with ethernet) and run a speedtest that the speeds are still slow. If they aren't, then the issue isn't rogers, and you shouldn't call them.

If you DO get slow speeds testing like that, then tell your dad to remind rogers that they guarantee 70% of the speeds listed on your package, and they will have to address the problem.
