So, one of my other builder buddies is screaming at me for even considering the EVGA SuperNOVA 1kw PSU.  He says that they are a terrible name brand and will fry my stuff, however I've used EVGA mb/gpu's now for two builds and have had 0 issues.  I have not used their PSU's though.  They appear to rate well over on Johnny Guru 9.7 out of 10.

I typically use corsair PSU's but I'm not sure what to get.  Basically I'm looking at running 2 r9 280x cards from either MSI or Gigabyte (still not sure which yet :( ) with a core i5-2500k, 16gb ram gskill, 2 samsung pro 840 ssd's and 4 wd caviar black's inside of a Coolermaster ATCS 840 case with standard fans.

Help?! :)

Thanks!

That particular PSU is a good unit, unlike some of EVGA's other lower-wattage creations, I would not hesitate to buy it.

Super Flower OEM's this unit if I remember correctly.

Desktop - 3930k | Rampage IV Extreme | 64gb Vengeance RAM | 256gb 840 Pro | 2x MSI 7870 | Corsair 900D | Creative SB Z | Sennheiser HD280 | Logitech G710+ | Razer Mamba | My salary's worth of water cooling.

Server/NAS - i5-4570 | Gigabyte Z97 Ud5h | 32gb Crucial 1600mhz | 500gb Samsung 850 evo | 4x 4tb WD Reds | Corsair H80 | Bitfenix Shinobi | Windows 7 Pro |

Your builder buddy doesn't know what he is talking about. :)

I was reading Johnny guru and he said the grounding thing near the switch is of concern.  I hope that wouldn't short out would it?

But that is a legitimate concern, but like Wolf had said, he doesn't think it would ever touch.
