I recently bought a Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1060 6gb Windforce to replace a 960 on the black friday sales. It's a good card and works great.

However, recently whenever I start up my computer, it always blackscreens and my monitor will turn off because it wont detect the computer. Restarting does not work. The only things that works is turning off the power supply with the switch, flipping the switch and booting it up again. Even then it's really slow to show display. It's a pain to do this every time. The card never used to do this this when I first got it.

Is there a way to fix this besides getting a replacement? I'd prefer not to send it back for a replacement due to not having a GPU for that time period.

Don't really know what to put here.

Do you have another gpu you can test or it could be the cable

My old GPU worked fine, I'm letting a friend borrow it for now. The cable should be fine, it's a display port which i used with my old gpu. Is it possible for a cable to go bad?

Definitely possible, are they any tears/sharp bends in the cable?

Also it's very odd that turning your PSU on and off is the only way your computer boots up. You should use the 1060 in your friends rig, when you have time, to see if the same problem occurs. If so, then it's the GPU, if not I guess it's the PSU(?).
