Hi!

So I've been a lurker for a little while and recently I've gotten some availability to do a project of my own, which would be building my own PC.

I went onto PcPartpicker (just to check prices and compatability), and this is the build that I came up with: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/yV9Hqk

Please suggest anything that I would be able to do in order to make it cheaper, yet still be able to max out settings on almost all video games and

do a bit of video editing and photoshop on the side. I currently have a budget of around $1,300. If there is any other build that you can suggest,

please post!

Thank you!

Yeah the bumping down to the 6700k and going with a 1070 would be a lot better gaming and not heavy editing you won't be that bothered by having a less powerful CPU. Also to save money don't just pick the most expensive motherboard, look at the things the board comes with like wifi or how many usb 3 ports, etc.

Looks cheaper and better. Also the build you link is 1700 dollars CAD unless you mean you have a budget of  1300 USD

Okay so taking into consideration as to what the previous people have said, this is another build I have come up with. It doesn't have the 1070, but rather a 1060 instead. Would someone be able to tell me performance differences that I would get between the two cards? Would it be worth it to invest a little bit of extra money into the 1070?

@Skyfliyer Do you have any specific color themes you'd like to match? :)

This is what I found to make it close to your budget, only thing that matters most to you would be the case.

I did bump it down to i5 as the budget is not big enough for i7 and if your not editing everyday you don't need the i7. The i5 vs i7 in gaming is nothing, unless your recording game play and/or having lots of other things going on the background.

@Skyfliyer For under $1500, I literally just swapped out the GTX 1060 with a GTX 1070 and increased the storage to 3TB :):

Snip

RX480 8GB gets you 60 fps in pretty much all games at pretty much any setting pretty much all the time at 1080p. 6700(non-k) gives you 4 cores, hyperthreading, 4GHz, and all the badassery CPU horsepower you could want for video editing, and performs similarly to a 6600k in most video games. should have plenty of cash leftover for anything else, and you certainly don't need the CPU cooler I mentioned if you don't want it, twas just a suggestion since you have the extra budget headroom.
