2560*1080 text distortion

Go to solution Solved by Alex(PlayMedium),

Are you sure you use dual link DVI? single link is not enough for 2560x1080, what you are describing reminds me of when linus tried to set a 120hz monitor to 120hz with a single link DVI cable. look at the pins of you cable, which of these matches yours best:

i just got my new 2560 x 1080 AOC monitor..
and the first thing i saw was that well everything was compressed and distorted when using the 2560 x 1080 setting while using 1920*1080 then everything is perfect.,

it feels like windows realy dont know how to cope with this resoulotion or something like that.

anyone have a sulotuion?

Monitors have drivers. Take a look

Are you sure your cable has the bandwidth for the res? You need a DL-DVI or Displayport.

Try messing with the display settings in windows, I'm sure I found an option once to change texts and such. Or maybe you cable is fucked up? Try using a displayport or HDMI cable.

Monitors do not have drivers unless some special software needs to interface with the display. First look at your cable make sure it can handle the bandwidth also check your resolution and font settings.

oh its a DVI-D single link. that would explain a lot... (the upper right one)

Are you sure it's running at 60hz? HDMI doesn't support that high of a resolution before 1.4a.

rightclick on your desktop

go to display settings

look if it's set to 2560x1080

advanced settings

monitor

Refresh rate: 60hz

If it works, then your monitor supports 1.4a and is running properly. You should feel the latency if it was only running at 30hz.
